The Mission at Katy Mills is located just south of Interstate 10 on Katy-Fort Bend Road in the growing West side of the greaterHouston Metropolitan Area, also known as Katy.

Katy, Texas has emerged as one of Houston’s predominant and affluent suburban areas, encompassing approximately 181 square miles over three of the nation’s fastest growing counties (Harris, Ft. Bend, and Waller). With Houston’s western-oriented expansion, Katy has seen a surge in population, housing developments, and businesses.

Housing:
Located at the entrance to Grand Harbor Estates and Falcon Point. To the South of the site lies Cinco Ranch, the number-one ranked master planned community in Houston and in Texas for 2010 and the number-three ranked community in the country for new-home sales in 2010. Spanning over 8,074 acres, Cinco Ranch currently boasts over 12,000 homes and sixteen Katy ISD schools. In addition to Cinco Ranch, Katy boasts numerous additional developments, with over 55,000 residences housing over 174,000 residents within a five-mile radius of the site.

Businesses:
Business and retail development in Katy has accelerated in recent years to keep pace with the population shift to West Houston. Including nearly every major sector of industry, Katy contains over 400,000 square feet of Class A office space and over 500 acres of business park sites. Major employers in Katy include Katy Independent School District (7,500+ employees), BP North America (7,500+ employees), Conoco Phillips (3,000+ employees), Mustang Engineering (3,000+ employees), and Shell Oil Woodcreek (2,000+ employees). In addition, BAE Global Tactical Systems, West Engineering, RTUI, Worley Parsons, and Brazos Valley Credit Union are planning new or expansion projects within Katy bringing an estimated 2,000 additional jobs
to the immediate area.

Across from the site is Katy Mills Mall, a 1.3 million square foot project that features over 200 national and local retailers, a 20-screen AMC movie theater, and employs over 2,000 people.
